Beautiful piece of furniture for baby's room4

We bought the changing table and the convertible crib. Overall we have been happy with both--especially with the look of them in the room--but there are a few things to consider about the changing table.

1. Be prepared for arms and legs (...and toys...and shoes...etc.) to go through the gap between the bars and the changing table top which could be dangerous if you pick up the child while the appendage is sticking through. Also the bars can become great handles for getting up or for fighting being changed--especially if you child is as strong as mine!

2. Finish scratches VERY easily. This doesn't bother me too much because it is a child's room after all. I have just learned to be more careful with my wedding ring to keep it from scratching the finish and keep my daughter from biting the rails and leaving bite marks.

None of these problems were major for us but as first-time parents we hadn't thought of those potential problems ahead of time. The drawers are nice and spacious and putting it together was not too hard. We have needed to tighten the screws a couple of times since the initial assembly.

Again though we are VERY happy with this product overall as it is nice real furniture piece for a relatively low cost.

**Updates #3-5 now that we have used this for a longer period of time.**

3. Be prepared to do frequent tightening of the screws. As they loosen the whole piece of furniture gets very wobbly.

4. The drawers were spacious enough for infant clothes but they don't fit toddler clothes nearly as well. So while the crib converts to toddler usage and beyond the dresser/changer won't last you as long.

5. On the plus side my very active 2-year-old has been very hard on this piece and it has held up quite well to her climbing jumping and other rough use.More detail ...

Poorly build1

Hey we got the chganging table with the bed like 1-2 months ago it looks really nice but the changingtable is moving around so much its not even funny im glad our son is not born yet so that we still have time to put stuff on it that it stops moving so much. we left the wheels off hoping it helps but it didnt. I would NEVER BUY this again.

I had a perfect changingtable for my older son and after seeing this one im so mad that i didnt keeped his changingtable. The bed is sturdy but not the changingtable.

If you have a babysrus or so close go see if they still have them set up and see what i mean. i dont feel safe to put my baby on thereMore detail ...

Fairly impressed3

I'm fairly impressed with this product. For the price it's really hard to beat. It arrived quickly and in good condition.

It was very simple to put together. I think I had it together in about 20 minutes.

It's well constructed and sturdy. Mine had a bit of a wobble from one of the legs being a fraction too short but that was easily fixed. The top shelf is thicker than the other two and will support a child up to 30 lbs.

I would take note of the notice for CA residents where it says this product contians chemicals known to cause cancer and\or birth defects. I didn't see that before I bought it and it does raise a concern. This is really the only reason it gets 3 stars instead of 4.More detail ...

Badger Basket Company Sleigh Style Changing Table with Hamper/3 Baskets in Cherry

perfect changer & storage center5

I put this item together myself in about an hour with no help and I'm 9 months pregnant. It probably would have gone by faster if i had a little help holding up the sides though. Anyway i love this changing table. You will probably want to purchase a thicker changing pad but the one that comes with it works too. The drawers slide in and out easily (they're made of cloth type material) and the hamper is very spacious. I hung a diaper depot thingy (i purchased separately) on the side that holds diapers and creams and things which is very handy. It doesn't take up a huge amount of space either.. .and unlike the previous review i read there is no smell whatsoever to my changing table. It smelled "new" for about a day or so which wasn't unpleasant at all. And i have a terribly sensitive nose pregnant or not.

I rate this product 5 stars because it's really cool inexpensive extremely useful... and stylish!More detail ...

Babyletto Modo 3 Drawer Changer in Two Tone Espresso and White

Sofia's new furniture...4

Pro's:

-Quick Delivery (3days CA to AZ)

-Quick build time (45-60 mins)

-Easy instructions (requires basic handyman skills)

-No missing parts/hardware

-Great modern look clean lines

-All holes for assembly line up no drilling req'd

-Nice finish (exterior frame & drawer fronts)

-Fairly sturdy exterior frame

Con's:

-Standard packaging (heavy & boxes damaged on corners)

-Minor damage to furniture/finish (one corner of frame & one drawer front)

-Mediocre materials for drawer construction (sides & bottoms)

-Inexpensive drawer railing (does not glide very smooth)

Suggestions:

-Be patient Take your time

-Have cordless drill rubber mallet screwdriver(phillips & flathead)

-Lay out all pieces to ensure all parts are in package

Summary:

Overall we are pleased with the quality & appearance of this piece of furniture. The finish of the exterior frame and drawer fronts is nice smooth and clean. Our only hangup is the mediocre materials for the drawer assemblies. Inexpensive/lightweight wood for the sides & bottoms is used. If you are not careful you can overtighten the screws which will damage/split the wood.

In conclusion this is a good buy it looks great and is designed to last last a few years. We feel that pricing for this item should be a bit lower because of the mediocre drawer construction materials/hardware.

Badger Basket Baby Changing Table with Six Baskets Espresso

Perfect5

This is a great affordable changing table. Most tables with any sort of drawers are much more expensive. While the drawers are made of canvas they hold everything I need them to without a problem. We are short on storage space/drawer space and this has helped out a lot! We are able to store all diapers wipes current clothing bedding receiving blankets in this. It is perfect for what we need it for.More detail ...

South Shore Furniture Changing Table Pure White

Excellent value for the price!5

When our son was born we had a Jenny Lind changing table (search for ASIN B000FTD1HA the oak color) that had been given to us fully assembled but unused by the original owners. It wasn't bad but never impressed me as being very sturdy. Our son is a big kid (born 10 lbs 12.2oz!) and changing him sometimes turns into a wrestling match until finally a few weeks ago the entire top shelf of the changing table collapsed! Wood split and splintered no way to repair utter disaster. Looked like the Titanic after hitting the bottom of the Atlantic.

So after a lot of research visits to every store that carried anything that could even be adapted for use as a changing table we finally found and settled on this particular one on Amazon. We needed something that could be used after he outgrew the need for a changing table not to mention something sturdy enough to hold up to some wear and tear while he's still being changed on it. But most of all we had a very tight budget to work with. Most dresser-type changing tables seem to run well north of $200 pretty well out of our limited reach. Granted this one isn't quite a full dresser configuration what with the pockets above the drawers but it still seemed sturdy enough to fit the bill for today and practical enough for his use when he gets older (we also have a full size separate dresser for his clothes).

As someone else pointed out the packaging this is delivered in was pretty substantial and seemed well designed to protect it from having corners and ends crushed in shipping. And as someone else noted there *are* a lot of parts in that box once you get it open. But the wooden parts are all numbered and marked and the small parts (screws and nails and such) are pretty distinct and obvious in the instructions. The first few steps of assembly were a little time consuming finding various parts and pieces where I'd sorted them to but after a little bit things started coming together nicely. I'm no expert at this stuff but a little hammer and screwdriver work and some patience was all it took to follow the instructions to completion.

Fully assembled this is a very nice piece of furniture. It looks nice the drawers (although small) track smoothly -unlike drawers for most dressers and such in this price range- and the height is great for tallish folks like my wife and I. My only worry and the only real reason I took off a star is that there's a lot of particleboard here which is worrisome for long-term durability. The top board seems to be solid wood though and I'll post updates here if the situation changes.

Overall though this is a nice looking easy to build and practical changing table. You may be able to find better tables out there but if you have a limited budget this seems to be the best deal around for your dollars.

Updated 4/02/10:

It's been over a year since we got this changing table and our son is now into potty training so it isn't seeing nearly as much use as it was back then. It's still in great shape though- the drawers still track smooth and true the particleboard hasn't split or shown any other signs of damage and the paint is even still in good shape. Overall it's held up excellently and if we have another kid I expect it will continue to serve us well. My one and only complaint is that those pockets between the drawers and the table top make for really good footholds for our son to climb up but honestly our kid is part mountain goat anyways so I think he'd find something to work with regardless. All in all this is still an excellent buy and absolutely worth a score upgrade to 5 stars.More detail ...
